Lately I have been trying to ignite my fondness of painting, so I dug out my dusty gear of oil colors and went to the attic to paint. Before I even started to think about what to paint, I got lost thinking about what color palette should I use. There is something about color that is very intriguing for me. How a simple two-dimensional square filled with just one simple color could make you feel vast different emotions, depending on who you are and what you went through. Red might remind you of that dress you wore to your very first birthday party invitation; yellow could mean that one task at work you wrote down on a piece of post-it note that was supposed to be done last Monday; or how white keeps on reminding you about all the tissues you wasted on a particularly bad day. I got excited about the possibilities of what my painting would remind people of (I get excited pretty easily).

I remember painting almost all of my smooth surfaced belongings with acrylics and oil. I didn't care that I ruined most of my daily necessity back then, I just loved the feeling of touching the unevenness of my stuff caused by the paint put over it. It almost felt like this object that has been in my room for years is mine now. Whether it was a picture of the sun going down behind a made up island, or a doodle of what I thought my brother looked like back then, it was as if a piece of me is attached to the object forever.. but it did not hurt a single bit. In a way, I think it was one of my first experience sharing a piece of myself and as a result feeling good and at peace.

Alas, I ruined another water bottle after 5 years and my mother knew best so she kept quiet.
